You Are Called To Do Things Differently

You Are Called to Do Things Differently

You feel it deep in your soul. The divine urge of wanting something different but not knowing what it is or how to start.

It’s 2024 (Happy New Year btw!) but if you’ve looked back at your previous years and thought Lort Jesus something’s gotta change, then keep reading to find your starting point of changing your life and doing things differently.

Anxiety, depression, irritability, angry outbursts, and other negatively charged emotions occur when we are experiencing a disconnection from ourselves and hold onto a lie or limiting belief in our subconscious mind.

We don’t know why we’re feeling these feelings, and we most certainly don’t know how to manage them. Or maybe we have an idea, but we don’t get around to it. 🤪

But at some point, you have a nudge that, maybe this isn’t all that life has to offer for you. What can you do to reconnect with yourself? I will share a couple of things to start with. This is what has helped me grow in my life and has transformed the way I view life and all the beautiful things in it and in ME.

1.       Meditation. I know you’re tired of hearing about it but maybe you’re hearing all about it because it actually does help. I get asked so many times “where do I start?” you start with reconnecting with yourself in the most simple way. You sit with yourself and just be. My AM practice looks different than my PM practice & I will explain the difference in this post.

Morning Prayer & Meditation - Sit up in bed before you do anything else and think of all the things you are grateful for this morning. Give thanks for the day ahead and all the blessings you will receive. Take 9 Deep breaths. Focus on first expanding your belly, then pulling the prana (breath) up to the chest. Then release and repeat 8 more times. Set an intention for the day or say ‘I am open with the eye and ear to witness miracles today.’ Sit in gratitude for a bit before you start your day. *Optional- I love a little stretch each morning in bed.☺️

Evening Prayer & Meditation

There are many different ways to pray & meditate. Some people like to focus on breathing to clear their minds from thoughts. But I started just sitting by myself with no interruptions, a candle, a small lamp/light on, and my thoughts. Ooouu scary, “my thoughts” That’s a lot to sit with. 😵‍💫 But I also journaled what came up for me.

To me, meditation in the AM was to set my intentions for the day while my PM meditation was to take inventory of how my day went and to deep dive into my subconscious mind. If you’re not familiar with what the subconscious mind is, follow me on Instagram, i talk a lot about it 😆 OR you can read The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphey.

At the beginning of my journey, A lot of darkness came up for me during my evening meditations. It was past childhood trauma that I had no idea why they were even brought up. But now I understand that the reason my consciousness brought them up was to heal from those wounds that kept bleeding out. But there is nothing to fear here. Darkness cannot stay when we shed light and that's exactly what we do when we finally acknowledge it.

**Evening Prayer & Journaling:  Thank you God/ Divine/ Source/ Love, thank you for this day. Thank you for all the teachings this day that I may or may not have learned. I sit with you right now to simply listen to what needs to be heard, and express what needs to be expressed. I sit here with an open heart and open mind to reveal any belief that doesn’t come from you. I sit in the knowing that I am guided and protected by the highest. I release any expectation of what my journaling needs to look like. If there’s something that I need to release from my subconscious and release from my heart reveal it, if there’s anything that I need to see, may I see it. All being perfect as it unfolds. I thank you for your guidance and love. And so it is.

After saying this prayer, close your eyes and be still for a bit, allow your thoughts to come in and write them down. Brain dump if you will, get it out and write it down, <3

2.       Journaling. I journaled like crazy at the beginning of my self-discovery journey. I sometimes look back at my old journals and I’m like “Wow all this girl ever wanted was some damn love.” 🥺

You will be so surprised by what comes forth in consciousness when you just allow yourself the space and time to just write. I still use this practice but now on my laptop just as I’m writing this paragraph now. Just having a whole-ass one-way conversation in my head and just jotting it down. Do just that. You can also set an intention on what message you need to hear or be revealed to you. (As mentioned above) It's magical how intentions work. .

3.       Movement. Yoga is the practice of uniting the mind body and spirit. Many different forms of yoga, some that I don’t even know about, but you find the one that speaks to you. This will help you drop into your body, and reconnect with yourself mentally, physically, and spiritually. This practice helped me begin to move my body again. I actually started stretching first then hopped on YouTube and found a channel I connected with. (Yoga with Adriene btw if you’d like to give it a try).

It ultimately helped me love my body and all the beauty within It which led me to much more in my journey of reconnecting to my body.

Our bodies are our sacred temple. It carries infinite wisdom and intelligence. It speaks to us. First, in subtle ways and nudges but if we don’t take the time to learn its language and listen closely, the nudges get bigger and louder. Whatever dis-ease is in the mind can easily manifest into physical disease in the body. So be sure to look within and listen to your vessel. Find a practice that works for you.

The goal is slow and mindful movements to really connect both mind and body. Start slow, start easy but the important thing is to start. I am now in a chapter of weightlifting. I still move slowly, I still focus on my breathing, and I still listen closely to my body but the exercises are much different. Believe me when I tell you, your practices will evolve as YOU evolve. But start anywhere just make the time to connect with your body.

4.       Nature. Dropping into your body and reconnecting with nature. Go out for a walk, go for a hike, or meditate outside in your backyard. All of these activities will help boost your mood not only because of psychological reasons but for physiological reasons such as getting your daily dose of vitamin D, moving your body, and moving stagnant energy. We are NATURE, we are ONE. Go outdoors get grounded and realign your true nature, with nature. You will be amazed at how magical the everyday things are that we most times just pass on by because we’re in such a rush to move on to the next thing.

You were called to do things differently in this life. You are reading this because you know that the life you are living today is not the life you wish to continue living. Whether you're really struggling right now or living well but still feeling unfulfilled, I pray you find your truth and be brave enough to LIVE IT! These practices can be lengthened to however much time you wish to invest in yourself in the mornings throughout the day and night time. Make it YOUR practice. Each Spiritual Practice is as unique as You are so switch it up if you need to but start somewhere are you practice will evolve as you evolve. We are in a new age here and these practices will help you shift into this new world. I love you and as always reach out if you feel called to <3
